Mr Fred Myron Walthall Jr.

Fred Myron Walthall Jr. passed away on April 16th, 2024 at his home in Pinetta, Florida. Fred was 84 years old. Born July 5th, 1939 to Fred and Francis Walthall in Washington D.C. Fred was the brother of 12 siblings. Delores, Dixie Lee, Faye, Eva, Bob, LeNae, Dwight, Teddy, Sandy, Sue, Gay Lynn, and Cheryl. Growing up in Virginia he learned to hunt, fish, farm and play guitar. Fred and his siblings had different musical talents and could be seen singing and playing music together even as adults at family reunions. Fred and his wife Jean of 64 years met in Arlington, Virginia. In 1960 Fred and Jean moved to Fort Myers, Florida where they started their family of five children. Fred Walthall III (Donna), Danita Durso (Jerry), Rene Chaney (Joe), Danny Walthall and Tammey Revels (Vince). Nine Grandchildren, Billy (Trish), Christie (Brent), Nikki, Heather (Steven), Katie, Brandy (Caleb), Danelle (Justin), J.D. and Bo. Thirteen great grandchildren Martin, Henry, Aurora, Brendan, Christopher, Baylee, Bryce, Kynlee, Will, Cheyenne, Brantley, Drake and Ryder. While living in Fort Myers, Fred started Southwest Florida Aluminum and Awning Company. After moving to Pinetta in 1980, Fred worked for H.C. Wilkinson Co. for many years before starting Fred’s Vinyl, installing vinyl siding until he retired at the age of 70. His most valued project was the renovations he completed on their 1973 house making it the home it is today. He took much pride in the home he built and gave tours through the house to everyone that entered. Fred and Jean enjoyed traveling, taking notable trips to Alaska and Hawaii, but their favorite place to visit was Ellijay, Georgia with their children and grandchildren in tow, stopping at yard sales and flea markets along the way. Fred had many hobbies including woodworking, gun collecting, playing guitar, rock collecting and making jewelry out of the rocks he tumbled. He was an avid fan of NASCAR with an impressive matchbox car collection. He would often combine his love of woodworking and NASCAR, making toy cars, semi’s and even a NASCAR bed with his cherished number 3 for one of his grandsons. Fred was preceded in death by his wife Jean. Children Rene and Danny. Siblings Delores, Dixie Lee, Eva, Faye, Bob, Teddy, Sandy and Gay Lynn. He is survived by his children Freddie, Danita and Tammey, grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings LaNae, Dwight, Sue and Cheryl and many nieces and nephews.
