Greenville, Florida: With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ms. Cheri Yvonne Blount. On Monday, May 4,2026, Ms. Cheri passed away, at the age of 63. Cheri Yvonne Blount was born July 26, 1962, in Valdosta, GA to her parents, Leroy and Evelene Handley Blount. She was an avid reader, liked to crochet, and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a big animal lover who adored her dogs and cats and loved sharing stories about them. Cheri was a member of Renewed Life Outreach Center in Greenville, FL and attended there until her health declined in recent years. Cheri loved her family greatly and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her nieces and nephews. After Cheri graduated from Madison County High School, she immediately pursued her dreams of being a nurse. She attended both North Florida Junior College and Tallahassee Community College, earning her LPN license. During her 42 year nursing career, she worked for various agencies. Some of these included, Madison County Memorial Hospital, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, Florida Correctional Institution and as a home health nurse. Her career eventually led her to Big Bend Hospice, her most beloved job of all. Here she cared for so many patients in the North Florida area with respect, compassion, and empathy. She will be missed by her former patients, coworkers, and family. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Evelene Blount of Greenville, FL; a sister, Robin Brinkley (Wes) of Quitman, GA; a brother, Lee Blount (Kim) of Shady Grove, FL; a nephew, Matthew Blount (Ashley), a niece, Rebecca Harris (EJ); and a step niece, Jordan Praytor (Daimeun). She also had 7 great nieces and nephews, all of which she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Blount and her son, Joseph Lee Blount. A Graveside Funeral Service will take place this Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 1:00pm at Redding-Hammock Cemetery (Ocelot Loop) in Greenville, FL. Rev. Chris Peterson will be Officiating.
