Mr. Charles Samuel Sapp

Mr. Charles Samuel Sapp, of Quitman, GA, passed away Thursday evening, December 28, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 88 years old. Charles was born and grew up in Madison, FL on May 19, 1935, to Rev. Dozier and Mary Caroline Sapp. After graduating High School, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management at Florida State University. He then became the store manager for Van H. Priest’s Dime Store in Quitman, GA. Following the closure of the Dime Store, he worked for Harvey’s Supermarket for over twenty-five years. Charles married Margaret “Lucile” Lamb in 1958, and they shared over sixty-five years of marriage together. They were blessed with two daughters, Cyndi and Carol. Charles was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, of Quitman, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. He was a coin collector and enjoyed watching historical documentaries on the History channel. He enjoyed going to the beach, fishing, gardening, and tending to his numerous fruit trees. He also loved to read, and he enjoyed taking his children and grandchildren to the public library. Charles was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Estelle Osborne. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Lucile” Sapp; his daughters, Cyndi Taylor (Wilson) of Hahira, GA and Carol Jones of Quitman, GA; his brother, Dozier E. “Buddy” Sapp of Madison, FL; and his sister, Mary Grace Wynn of Jennings, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Dawn Lamb, Bill and Sharee Lamb, Terry and Linda McCray, Martha Lamb, Susan Lamb, and Buddy Buchanan. He had 2 grandchildren, Chandra Jones and Andrew Jones (Faith). He had 2 step grandchildren, Michael Taylor (Kim) and Millie Jordan (Patrick). And 7 great grandchildren, Bryce, Madison, Morgan, Walt, Beau, Josie, and Cherub. He is also survived by a host of friends, extended family, church family, and community members. Funeral services will take place Sunday, December 31, 2023 at 3:00pm at Hopewell Baptist Church in Madison, FL. Visitation will be 1 hour before starting at 2:00pm, also at Hopewell Baptist.
