William Robert Wimberly II

May 25, 1922 - November 6, 2015

William Robert Wimberly II (Mr. Bill) was an extraordinary man who was devoted to his loving wife Jewell and their family. He found delight in doting on his children, grandchildren and great grand children. However, his family extended beyond his immediate family to those of his community to whom he shared his love and generosity. He was a regular visitor to the local stores at Cherry Lake Crossroads and loved talking with all who stopped by as well as sharing dog biscuits with Sadie and Dixie and making sure that the children left with a bag of candy.  He was a War World II veteran and was proud of his service to his country. He lived a full and rich life and often shared his many experiences to the delight of those around him.  He was a man of great faith and worshiped faithfully at Beulah Baptist Nankin Church. He knew God with his heart and mind.     William shared his faith through the life he lived. He recently shared that upon his death he would be in Gloryland. On Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 when he left this world he surely heard these words from our Lord, "Well done thy good and faithful servant." His legacy is a score of lives impacted by his kindness and generosity. He truly was the fulfillment of the scripture from Micah 6:8, "And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."   William Robert Wimberly was born on May 25, 1922 to William Scott Wimberly and Weda Wilkinson Wimberly. He was named after his paternal grandfather William Robert Wimberly I who he loved and admired. His two sisters, Frances Wimberly Jones and Sara Wimberly Shutts preceded him in death.   William is survived by his loving wife Jewell Benton Wimberly of 68 years, his son William Scott Wimberly and wife Kathy of Tallahassee and his daughter Ruth Wimberly McHargue also of Tallahassee. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Scott McHargue and wife Jenny, Robert Scott Wimberly, Melissa McHargue Keahey and husband Patt and his three great-grand children, Madison and Macey McHargue and Liam Keahey. In addition he is survived by his niece Drinda Taylor and husband Danny; his nephew Claude Jones and wife Sue; as well as many great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Beulah Baptist Nankin Church with burial following at the Old Columbia Cemetery in Brooks County, Georgia. Â
