Madison, Fl: Wayne Russell Walker, 73, of Madison, passed away quietly on June 13,2014 at the Margaret Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. Wayne was born on September 2, 1940, in Trenton, Florida. His parents moved to Madison where he grew up and spent his entire adult life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Audrey (Asbell) Walker. Wayne was a star athlete at Madison High School having played several different sports. He along with three other students set a track record that has not been broken to this day. Following graduation, he worked for 43 years at the paper mill in Clyattville, Georgia in a variety of positions. Wayne was a member of the Army Reserve where he served as a Tanker. He was a Charter Member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he contributed his many talents and skills constructing the sanctuary. He was instrumental in placing the steeple on the church. He also helped to complete the education building where he served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He served as a Carpenter for Christ at several different locations. Wayne was proud of his heritage, which was Native American, from both paternal and maternal sides of his family. He loved and respected the natural world around him, which gave him knowledge of the flora, fauna, geology, and hydrology of the Suwannee River from the Okefenokee Swamp to Troy Springs. He taught his grandchildren to love nature as much as he loved it. A Memorial Service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
