Marilyn Louise Brothers

Marilyn Louise (Bridge) Brothers, age 81, passed away on May 26, 2018. She was born September 9, 1936 in Flint, Michigan to Harold and MargueriteBridge. Marilyn was the middle child; her oldest brother, Roger is deceased, and her younger brother Don Bridge, and a half sister, Barbara Perkins survive her. She graduated from University of Florida Nursing Program in 1958 as a Registered Nurse, and in 1985, she received her BSN. Marilyn married Shelby "Ladell" Brothers on March 8, 1957, and they were a very active part of the Madison community. She was a school nurse for Madison county; she worked at Madison Memorial Hospital, and served as a mental health crises intake. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church during these years; she sang in the choir, she was involved with the Children's ministry, and supported the MYF program. She moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1986, where she was a Public Health Nurse for the Alachua County Health Department and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church as well as Faith United Methodist Church. Marilyn was active in the UMW Circle where she enjoyed sewing dresses and knitting hats for missionary projects. She always looked forward to handing our bread at the Mighty Bread Bank on Wednesdays. She helped start the "Kids Count" program in Northeast Gainesville, and participated in a missionary trip to Haiti serving as a nurse. She had a heart for ways to serve. She is preceded in death by her husband, Shelby "Ladell" Brothers. She is survived by her children, Deborah (Brothers ) Colson, Daniel Brothers, Barbara (Brothers) Dupree, and William Brothers. She has nine grandchildren and 3.5 great grandchildren. A viewing at ll:30 a.m. and a funeral service at l:00 p.m. will be held at Beggs Funeral Home in Madison, Florida on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. Interment will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison.
