Linda Ferran Gibson

October 20, 1942 - February 5, 2018

Madison: Linda Ferran Gibson, age 75, died Monday, February 5, 2018, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA. Linda was born October 20rd, 1942 to Herbert and Lola Mae Ferran in Eustis, FL. A devout and faithful Christian, she was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Madison, FL. She was a graduate of Eustis High School, and graduated from High Point College in High Point, NC, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She married Roger Gibson on December 22nd, 1963, and moved to Richmond, VA, where she taught high school Language Arts while Roger completed dental school. They then moved to El Paso, TX, where Roger was stationed in the US Army at Fort Bliss. After Roger's service, they moved to Milton, FL for a short time, then to Madison, FL in 1970. Linda taught Language Arts and History at Madison Academy where she also served as Headmistress for several years. She retired in 1999. Linda was very active in her church, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and serving on any committee she could. She was also active in the Madison community. She served as a trustee for North Florida Community College, volunteered at A Women's Pregnancy Center, and mentored through Take Stock in Children. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and beloved Nana. She loved sharing her love of Christ, traveling extensively with Roger, being with her family and friends, and enjoying her many gardening projects. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Roger E. Gibson of Madison; son Greg Gibson (Jackie) of Odessa, FL; daughter Amy Gibson of Madison; her brother Bert Ferran (Alice) of Kennebunkport, ME; her sister Diana Worth (Tommy) of Greensboro, NC; her granddaughters Miranda Gibson and Reagan Gibson; and many cousins and relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church with Pastor Gary R. Cox officiating. Commitment services will follow immediately afterwards in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Madison. The family will receive friends in the church prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. Flowers may be set to Grace Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grace Presbyterian's Missions Fund, 688 N. Washington St, Madison, FL 32340.
