Beggs Funeral Home 235 NW Orange Ave. Madison, Florida 850-973-2258 Greenville, FL: Mrs. Janice Haines Brown, age 83, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 in Tallahassee. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenville Baptist Church with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at T. J. Beggs, Jr. & Sons, Madison, Florida. Donations may be made to Greenville Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 27, Greenville FL 32331. She was born in Crossville, Alabama, and lived in numerous towns in Georgia and ended up in Guyton, Georgia where she graduated from high school. She enrolled at the Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville where she received her BS degree in Health Science and Physical Education. She moved to Greenville in 1955 where she taught and coached the girls basketball for Greenville High School. It was there she met Bobby Brown, and they were married in 1956. She taught in various schools in Madison County before her retirement. She was a member of Greenville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir, and served as chairperson of the Homebound Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband and 4 sisters, Jean Fowler, Jackie Webb, Jo Massey, and Mary Ruth Pitts, also a niece, Robin Fowler. She is survived by 1 daughter, Karen Brown of Tallahassee and a sister, Jerry Hurst of Mt. Vernon, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews.
