Jacob R. Houck

Jacob R. Houck, age 90 died, June 9, 2013 at his residence in Perry. He was the son of the late John G. Houck and Ruth Carlton. Mr. Houck was born in Perry and also resided in Dade County for 33 years where he served as a firefighter before returning home to Taylor County. An Army veteran, Mr. Houck served his country in WWII. He was a member of both the Woodmen of the World and Dade County Firefighters Associations and was of the protestant faith. He loved carpentry work, and was an avid boater and fisherman. Mr. Houck is survived by his wife of 70 years, Merle Houck, two sons Jim Houck of Belleview, Washington and Jerry Houck of Ft. Collins, Colorado, a sister Joan Kamm of Miami, Florida, four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son Jason Houck, two brothers Billy William Houck and John Edward Houck, and two sisters, Alice Smith and Dora Shewmake. Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, June 13, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at the Carlton Cemetery in Perry with Bro. Billy Gipson officiating.
