Douglas Eugene Dixon

July 13, 1946 - January 14, 2021

Douglas Eugene Dixon, 74, passed away on Thursday, January 14th, 2021. He was born on July 13th, 1946, in Lee, Florida, to Leroy Dixon and Sadie Dixon. After graduating high school, Doug joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served in the Vietnam War. Doug was a skilled farmer and a jack of all trades. He was gifted with the ability to engineer, design, and build everything from farm equipment to buildings. He was a generous man that loved working the land and sharing the bounty of his efforts. Doug was a witty front porch conversationalist to his many friends and neighbors. A character that was larger than life, he will be missed. He is survived by his brother, Jimmy (Hilda) Dixon of Madison; three sisters, Ann Buckhalt of Melbourne, Carolyn Woodard of Tallahassee, and Margaret (Ray) Wofford of Roswell, Georgia; former wife, Lee Dixon of Lee; two daughters, Jodi (Parks) Baker of Lee, and Rebecca Dixon of Houston, TX; and son Jeremy (Alanna) Dixon of Key Largo; and five grandchildren, Shelbi, Hannah, Connor, Ryland, and Braelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Dixon and Sadie Dixon, and his siblings, Vera Rudd, David Dixon, John Dixon, and Irving Dixon. Graveside services will be held at the Blue Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 11 a.m. on January 19, 2021.
