Cyril Murray Comer – Obituary Cyril Murray Comer was born to Audley Thomas Comer and Margaret Janie Hudson Comer on May 20, 1932 in Berrien County, Georgia. He was the seventh of seven children in the family. Preceding Murray in death were his wife of 55 years, Jane Alberti Wood Comer, his parents and siblings Audley Harold Comer, Hubert Felton Comer (KIA Normandy invasion WWII), Georgia Camella Comer Garner (Algerine), James Erwin Comer, and Gerald Warren Comer (Gladys). Barbara Jane Comer Carter (Isaac, deceased) resides in Haysville, Kansas. Murray and wife had two children, son David Murray Comer (Christina and two children, Sean and Morgan) of Tallahassee, Florida and daughter Suzanne Jane Comer Bell (Thomas and two children, Jane Margaret and Helen Elizabeth) of Brevard, North Carolina. Murray graduated from Ray City, Georgia High School in 1949 and entered the USAF in 1950 during the Korean War, serving three years in Germany as an aircraft radio mechanic. During his time in Europe with an F-84 Fighter aircraft squadron, he traveled to Tripoli, Libya, North Africa, much of France, Spain, Switzerland, and Germany. Upon discharge from USAF, he entered Valdosta State College in 1954 for one year pre-pharmacy studies where he met his wife-to-be, Jane Alberti Wood, of Blackshear, Georgia. After his freshman year he transferred to the University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy. After one year at UGA, Jane had studied at Waycross College while working in journalism. She entered UGA School of Journalism in 1956, and a friendship re-emerged. In 1958, Murray graduated with a BS degree in Pharmacy, and Jane graduated with a BA degree in Journalism in 1959. They were married in April 1959. Murray’s practice of pharmacy carried him to Marietta, Georgia, Valdosta, Georgia, Albany, Georgia, and in 1962, to Madison, Florida, where he purchased Robert’s Drug Store. He and Jane operated Comer’s Drug store for 31 years. During his years of Pharmacy practice, he was a member of Associations of Pharmacy, American, Georgia, Florida, and local Tri-county RX Group. He was a past member and director of Madison County Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the Madison Country Club. In 1962, he became a member of the Madison Presbyterian Church, US. where he served as deacon, and in 1973 became associated with Grace Presbyterian Church, PCA, where he served as Ruling Elder. He enjoyed wildlife, fishing, hunting, golf, time at his pine tree farm and spending time with his four grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church in Madison, Florida, Saturday, April 23, 2022. A Graveside service will be at 4:00 PM in Blackshear, Georgia Cemetery.
