JAMES TILLIS DIXON

James (Jimmy) Tillis Dixon of Madison, Florida left his earthly home to be with Jesus on Monday January 13, 2025. He was born in Madison, Florida on August 30, 1937. Jimmy was deeply committed to his family, his church, and his community which he demonstrated by daily working hard. Living his whole life as a farmer and a gardener, his many crops included watermelons, hay, blueberries, peanuts, grapes, tomatoes, green beans, acre peas, pears, persimmons, and corn. He was the original recycler, using cardboard and leaves as mulch for his garden. He served 3 years in the Army, and was employed by AT&T for 22 years in Operations & Network Engineering. He was an active member of Madison First Methodist Church, volunteering where-ever and whenever he was needed. He spent a decade with Madison County Waste Management. He was awarded both the Madison County “Good Neighbor” award in 2004 and the Florida Farm Bureau County Alliance for Responsible Environmental Stewardship Award in 2012. Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hilda Mae Agner Dixon; his parents, Leroy Irving Hoffman & Sadie Mae Blair Dixon; and his siblings, Vera Virginia Dixon Rudd, William David Dixon, infant Dixon, John Calvin Dixon, Leroy Irving Dixon, and Douglas Eugene Dixon. He is survived by his three children Gina Faye Dixon & Eugene Phillip Rivers Jr., Devin Blair & Libby Marie Dixon, and Marlin Brett Dixon. His grandchildren are Grace Silviria & Gouthang Tungnung, Faith Elene Rivers, Noah Eugene Rivers, Hope Lillian & Ethan Patrick Dunn, Joy SadieMae Rivers, Glory Hilda Rivers, Isaiah James Rivers, Daniel Whitfield Rivers, Jessica Marie & Robert Allen Lane, Emily Mae & Kevin Jonathan Bond, Jared Cameron & Kellie Lynn Dixon, and Melissa Rae & Brandon Edwin Goodwin. His great grandchildren are Paulian Ephraim Tungnung, Manasseh Sianbel Tungnung, Faith Zemhoi Tungnung, Lottie Marie Ann Lane, Fredrick Lee Lane, Evelynn Alda Bond, Jade Maxine Bond, Nolana RoseMarie Bond, Killian RichardBlair Bond, Sloane HarveyGeorge Bond, Aeva Mae Goodwin, RaeMarie Celeste Goodwin. His living sisters are Elsie Ann Dixon, Betty Carolyn Dixon Woodard, and Margaret Nell Dixon Wofford. He will also be missed by the rest of his nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Jimmy Dixon's Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 11am on Saturday January 18 at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 4084 NE Rocky Ford Road, Madison, FL 32340.
