Mr. Charles Allen Roland

Sunday, October 1, 2023, Charles Allen Roland left this life to be reunited in heaven with the love of his life, Jo Ann Boothe Roland. He was born February 21, 1940 in Lloyd, Florida to Jonah and Maudie Warren Roland. His siblings were Sue Hughes, Leon Roland and Myrna Barnes. He spent most of his youth in Geneva County, Alabama before his family moved to Greenville, Florida where he met Jo Ann and they were married on June 5th, 1959. In his early years in Greenville, prior to farming, he worked several jobs including loading pulpwood, working at the wood yard, planting pines and eventually started raising hogs which turned into full-time farming. Charles and Jo Ann were married 59 years and during those years they built a strong, close family that began with two boys, Michael and Shane. They later gained two daughters-in-love, Earlene and Lisa and five grandchildren, Ceira Roland Ragans, (Ryan Ragans), Haley Roland, (Jared Dixon), Chase Roland, Alissa Roland and Jarrett Roland and a few years later, their great-grandchildren, Aiden Roland, Adalyn Vann, Luke Ragans and Noah Ragans. Survivors are two sisters-in-law, Doris Boothe and Geri Boothe, a brother-in-law, Grover Boothe, also a host of nieces and nephews that he loved very much. Two nieces, Joy Boothe and Patti Boothe Hughes have had a special place in his heart since they were young. He enjoyed fishing, dove hunting, and watching football, but always a good day's work and going out to eat with family and friends is what he loved. He enjoyed serving on many various committees and boards. He had a wonderful wit and sense of humor, both of which kept us all on our toes and kept us laughing. He loved this time of year, harvest time. For God to have "picked him" at this time is difficult, but John 4:35 says "Open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." The last several months, we came to know a different Charles A. God blessed him with patience, gratefulness and acceptance. Physical weakness created spiritual strength. When God started speaking to his heart, we saw a man that realized what was most important in life. Having a relationship with God, having a family that loves you and friends that are true come foul or fair weather is the definition of a successful man. He was a successful man and he was our Daddy and our Poppy and we will always love him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM October 5, 2023 at the Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel, 235 NW Orange Ave Madison, Florida 32340. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at the Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice.
